Terms of service

Yearcrest (yearcrest.com) is run by Ben Amato, a sole proprietor in South Africa, trading as Yearcrest ("we", "us"). These terms apply to anyone who uses the site: designing crests, buying a pack, or ordering a framed print. By using Yearcrest you agree to them.

Your account

You need an account to save and share crests. Keep your login to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with it. Tell us at support@yearcrest.com if you think someone else has used it.

What you make

Your crests, and the photos, names, dates and words you put on them, are yours. You give us permission to store them, show them to you and to the people and groups you share them with, and render and print them when you ask. You must have the right to use what you upload — your own photos, or ones you have permission to use. Don't upload anything unlawful, or anything that infringes someone else's rights.

Templates, presets, the Yearcrest designs and the site itself are ours. You may use them to make crests for yourself and the people you share them with.

Groups and sharing

A crest shared with a group can be seen by its members, who may send dates and photos for you to approve. Whoever owns a group decides who is in it. A display link shows a crest to anyone who has the link, so share it only with people you mean to.

Packs

Designing is free. A pack takes a crest or group further for a year, as described on the packs page: Basic for one crest, Business for a group and every crest shared with it. A pack is paid once and is not a subscription: it doesn't renew on its own. PDFs on a pack are unlimited within a daily fair use. When a pack ends, nothing you made is deleted.

Packs are sold by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the merchant of record for these orders. Paddle provides all customer service for payments and handles refunds and returns of packs, under Paddle's buyer terms (paddle.com/legal/buyer-terms). Our refund policy says when a pack is refunded.

Framed prints

Framed prints are made to order from your design, printed and framed by our print partner, and delivered to the address you give. Please check your design, its spelling and its dates before you order: it is printed as you made it. Prices and delivery fees are shown before you pay. Payment for framed prints is taken by Paystack. A framed order of a crest brings it a Basic pack.

The service

We work to keep Yearcrest running and your crests safe, but the site is provided as it is, and it may sometimes be unavailable or change. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our liability for anything you bought is limited to what you paid for it. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law, including South Africa's Consumer Protection Act.

Ending

You can stop using Yearcrest at any time, and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, telling you why.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the date below says when they last changed, and changes that matter are told to account holders by email. These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Questions go to support@yearcrest.com.
